Multi-Cultural Trend Setters make Awards Night a Hit
IN FOCUS Magazine and the Lesesne Media Group reached yet another milestone. Saturay, November 8th was officially designated as AutoFOCUS Awards Day by Miami Beach Commissioner Jerry Libbin. Libbin, pictured at left with Julie Lawless of NIssan, got the show started by presenting a proclamation to Woodie and Tony Lesesne marking importance of the event. The 6th annual 2009 Multi-Cultural Leaders Awards Reception lived up to the expectation of delivering an exciting mix of celebration, recognition and revelry. The Miami Beach Convention Center was the backdrop with the excitement of the 37th Annual South Florida International Auto Show as the setting. The event was sponsored by General Motors as IN FOCUS Magazine once again brought together the trend-setting multi-cultural professionals that has lifted the publication to 15 years of award-winning excellence. The mini concert at the end of the awards program capped of a dynamic night of networking and relationship building.

The Multi-Cultural Leader of the Year award went to Dr. Nelson Santiago. Santiago successfully hosted numerous events focusing on improving heath education for underserved Latino Communities in South Florida, and building voting awareness issues to the forefront. The Multi-Cultural Achiever of the Year award went to Michele Samarroo, the young attorney who is transforming the legendary Wilkie D. Ferguson Jr. Bar Association into a revived and active influence in the local legal community. Samarroo is one of IN FOCUS Magazines top 100 emerging leaders. The 2008 Business Advocate of the Year Award recipient is Jay Almeida, president of the International Business Council. Almeida consistently connects regional business executives face to face with hundreds of international business executives to open new avenues for business expansion and trade. Almeida is pushing the envelope ni regional economic growth through international commerce.
The 6th annual AutoFOCUS Awards followed the MOCA, highlighted by the presentation of the prestigious IMPACT award. The 2008 recipient of the IMPACT Award is Saturn/General Motors for their innovative participation in the Sarah House project.
AutoFOCUS Automotive Advocate award was presented to Marcello Serrato, founder and president of Prestige Automotive Specialists, a fleet management firm based in South Florida.
